The flyer for the 5th Annual 9 Irish Brothers trip to Ireland on June 9-18, 2012 is now on our website under the Leisure Trips tab.  The is a very high energy trip with lots of stops and walking.  It is a pub crawl and people attending should expect to have a great time as Jerry and Jan O'Bryan are wonderful hosts.  There is still space left on this trip, but don't delay as spots usually fill up quickly.

It has been a very busy first part of the year.  We have had many calls over the past three months for people looking to book their spring and summer vacations.  There are deals out there if you are flexible and willing to book quickly.  Don't hesitate to contact Jill in our office at (765) 463-5050 or by email at jill@speakerstrvl.com

Gas prices are rising and only getting higher.  What does this mean for you as a traveler?  The cost of your flight will likely continue to go up.  On the other hand there are car rental deals right now.  Many car rental companies are discounting their higher end rentals because the cost of fuel has lowered the demand.

WE ARE OPEN!  There has been some confusion in regards to our office location and whether or not Speaker's Travel is still open.  Rest assured that we are still here and ready to serve you.  We have been located in the bottom level of 1089 Sagamore Parkway West since February of this year.  We no longer needed all of the space that this building provides and we made a decision to sell the building instead of leasing space to another business earlier this year.

Right now a new business has moved in upstairs and they opened for business on Monday.  We would like to welcome Matt Kopf and Allstate Insurance to the building.  A new Speaker's Travel sign is being built and will be installed in the coming days.  We plan to stay in the building and continue operating out of the lower level.

Please feel free to contact our office at (765) 463-5050.  We are ready to help you plan your vacation, business trip, or honeymoon travel.

Football season is upon us.  It's also the time of year that family's begin planning their Christmas and Spring Break trips.  Let us know if we can help you with any of your plans.  Florida is still a hot spot for Christmas.  The Caribbean has been most popular for Spring Break over the past 3-5 years.

Jill Eberle is our vacation travel expert.  Ron Wilson is our cruise expert.  Either of them would be happy to sit down with you or speak with you over the phone about some of the possibilities for you and your family.

We are still located in West Lafayette in the same building on Sagamore Parkway West.  Our office is now located in the downstairs portion of the building.  Feel free to stop in to chat or to pick up a color catalog full of vacation ideas.

It has been a very busy spring.  Many families are now planning and booking their summer vacations.  In the next few weeks there will be high school graduations and then summer will be upon us.

Don't hesitate to contact Jill in our office for help with planning your vacation.  She is a Sandals and Disney World expert having traveled extensively to both places over the past 20 years.  Ron can assist with a cruise or vacation travel from his home office.  We are here to help and serve you.

Changes, Changes, Changes.....

We are making some changes at Speaker's Travel for 2010.  Starting February 1, 2010 we will close each day for lunch from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.  We will also be located in the downstairs suite in the same building at 1089 Sagamore Parkway West in West Lafayette (in between Regions Bank and Burger King) after 2/1/10.  Instead of entering the building and going upstairs you will just come in and go downstairs.

Our service and committment to you, the customer, will not change.  These changes we have made for 2010 are positive and will allow us to better serve our clients.

People often ask, "Why use a travel agent?"  All websites and travel agencies sell the same products.  Service is what sets travel agents apart from the Internet.  If you book on the Internet who will you call when your stuck in Ireland because of a flight cancellation?  What if you missed your cruise departure because you had a delay on your way to the port?  A travel agent can assist you with correcting these problems along the way.  Do you want to try and figure it all out on your own?  What is your time worth?  These are the type of questions that we want to know the answers to.

Happy New Year!  As we close out another year here at Speaker's Travel we would like to thank our loyal customers for allowing us to work with you over and over again.

It's been quite some time since the last blog post.   Our agents are busy booking Christmas vacations.  It's not too early to start planning and booking your Spring Break trips.  This is the time to get decent priced airline tickets.  People who wait until January are usually left with poor flight options and higher priced fares.

We hope you all enjoy your fall.  Please give us a call at 463-5050 if we can help you with any of your future travel plans.

Summer is coming to an end and school is about to start.  Where does the time go?  We are planning fall breaks trip right now and it seems like a lot of people like to go to Disney for their 4-day weekends.  Football season is all coming quickly.  High school teams in Indiana started practicing this week and the college teams open camp this weekend.

Give us a call if you are looking for October break ideas.  I hate to say it, but Christmas will be here before we know it.

Fr. David Peck, pilgrimage director for the diocese of Rockford in Illinois,
led a group of pilgrims beginning in Rome, Italy where they received the Papal blessing by Pope Bennedict XVI. After experiencing the sights in the Eternal City, Fr. Peck and the pilgrims traveled to Florence where they celebrated Mass in the Duoma and enjoyed their hotel on the River Arno,  Cindy Nicolosi was there tour leader and helped Fr. Peck organize the trip with Lion and the Lamb Journeys.  They traveled by coach to the French Riviera visiting Monte Carlo in Monaco.  On the Feast of Corpus Christi, they offered Mass in the Cathedral as a wonderful celebration with the Bishop and many other priests.

They had a tour of the magnificent Palace and Rose Gardens then enjoyed views of the Sea from their hotel on the Mediterranean Coast.  The pilgrimage journey continued on their scenic route to Lourdes in the Pyrenees.  The picture shows the group in Lourdes where they were able to bathe in spring and celebrate Mass in the Grotto of the Apparition of the Blessed Mother to Bernadette.  They also participated in the Candlelight Rosary Processions and the Procession with the Blessed Sacrament for the blessing of the sick.  Fr. Peck and the pilgrims took the fast train to Paris, where they visit Notre Dame and the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal. The group enjoyed a dinner cruise on the famous River Seine during their sojourn in Paris before returning to the USA.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!   Please call us if we can help you plan a customized tour for your group to Italy, France, or anywhere in the world.

Once every ten years the little village of Oberammergau in Bavaria, Germany offers to the world a spectacular performance in tribute to our Lord's sacred passion.  Don't miss this opportunity in 2010 to attend this event.  You can find the details for our special trip on the Lion and Lamb Journeys page.

Come with us on our next exciting trip to the Holy Land on November 3-13, 2009.  This is an experience of a lifetime!  Receive greater understanding of God's word, as our Catholic guide opens the Scriptures to us and as Fr. Kenneth Anderson celebrates holy mass in the very places where our Lord Jesus walked!  "You will never be the same."

Please check out the information for this trip.  We escort our trips to Israel and have professional licensed guides.

Summer is here (although it is a cool 50 degrees as I write this).  Most families have planned their summer vacations by now.  We are starting to work on fall and winter vacations during this time of the year.  It also happens to be our slowest months of the year in the retail travel business.  Because of this, we have decided to implement new summer hours. Starting June 15, we will open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.  We will go back to our normal hours at the start of September.

We had a meeting for our 2nd Annual Nine Irish Brothers Ireland Pub Crawl tour last Saturday.  What a great group!  They will be embarking on an 10 day tour of Ireland on June 27.  They will be stopping at many sites along the way, and if all goes as planned, there will be another 38 residents from the great state of Indiana who will have a chance to kiss the Blarney Stone.  I would imagine that there will be a number of stories that will come from this trip as they travel the country and visit the hundreds of pubs that sit along the road side and inside some of the quaint Irish towns.  If you haven't been to Ireland then you are missing out!  What a wonderful country full of friendly people.  The sites and sounds are incredible.

Until next time.....

Often times in our business we travel a lot to preview destinations or resorts.  I spent a few days at the Ritz Carlton Tiburon Golf Resort for a wedding.  The resort was beautiful!  The two golf courses were very nice and the hotel had everything anyone could ever need.....except for a beach.  But, if you plan on going to this resort and want to spend time at the beach then you are still in luck.  The Tiburon's sister property is the Ritz Carlton Beach Club.  It's located about 10 minutes away and there is a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes between the two resorts.  Guests staying at the Beach Club or Tiburon can go to either property and have access to the ammenities at both places.

Speaking of Naples, there are several nice resorts in that area.  Just thirty minutes south of Naples is Marco Island.  There is a Marriott there that is fantastic and it is also great for families.  They have probably the nicest beach I have every seen.  The other resort I have stayed at in the Naples area is located in Bonita Springs.  It is the Hyatt Coconut Point.  It also has a lot to offer for a weekend getaway or for a nice family vacation.

Give us a call if you are interested in any of these resorts or the Naples area.  You will not be dissapointed with what any of these places have to offer.

Lion and the Lamb pilgrims welcome Pope Benedict on May 12 in Jerusalem along with people who dwell in the Holy Land.

Our pilgrimage was called “Season of Joy” because it was during the Easter Season and we were actually visiting sites related to our Savior, including celebrating Mass on Calvary and remembering at the Empty Tomb that Christ died and He is risen!

Other memories: Getting acquainted with one another and Raouf our special Catholic guide (whom we believe will make an excellent Deacon), and with Ahmad our careful driver, the awesome Masses we celebrated with Fr. Joe Nelson, OFM, our spiritual leader, and being in the holy land at the same time and place with Pope Benedict XVI in the Kidron Valley in Jerusalem nearby the Garden of Gethsemane!  We had a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee singing worship songs with our talented fisherman Daniel, and not least the St. Peter’s fish and daily falafel sandwiches!

Join us on our next journey to the Holy Land November 3 – 13, 2009 as we invite you to come Walk in the Footsteps of Our Savior. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the Word come alive and refresh your soul.
