Travel Tips for GLHS/SCMC Tours
When signing up for an activity ALWAYS
write your name as it appears on your driver’s license (for domestic trips) or
passport (for international trips).
If you don’t write down your name on the reservation form
as it appears on your identification it is possible that an airline or cruise
ship will not allow you on the plane or ship. It could also cost you a lot
of money to make a change at the last minute. If you are signing up
a friend for a trip please make sure you have their name spelled correctly.
If there is a name misspelling there is absolutely nothing that Speaker's Travel can do to help you out if we are not
aware of the mistake. Take the time to check your identification before
signing up for a trip. It will save us both a lot of time down the road as
the trip approaches.
Don’t over pack and take too much luggage.
Taking too much luggage can really make your vacation a hassle. By packing
only what you need it will make it a lot easier to transport to the bus,
airport, and your final destination. Remember, you are probably going to
purchase items while on your trip. If your luggage was difficult to carry on
the way to your destination it will be as difficult or harder to carry home.
We, as your travel consultants, can always make
requests regarding any special needs. We always try to work with each
traveler to insure that they get what they have asked for. If you request a
smoking room or a room with two double beds we will work with the hotel to
make sure you get what you have requested. But, just because it is requested
does not mean you will get it. Hotels and airline will not guarantee
requests. If you have made a request and it has not been
honored please see your tour leader. He/She will work to try and remedy the
problem. Often times a switch can be made with another participant on the
trip.
We always send out a confirmation letter for all
trips that include at least one overnight stay. If you are signed up for
a trip and did not receive a letter to confirm your space then we either had
an incorrect address or no address at all. It is possible that the
person who signed you up for the trip received all of the information in the
mail already. All you need to do is call our
office and let us know. We will send out a letter to you immediately. We can
make address changes, telephone number changes, or roommate changes.
Always be on time. The success of a tour often
depends on people being on time. A person who arrives late to the bus stop,
late to the airport gate, or late for a specific reporting time can ruin the
trip for everybody. Always report at the time the group leader specifies.
Communication is extremely important. It’s okay
to make changes to your rooming list or decide to drive on your own to the
tour destination. Please make sure you call our office to notify us of any
changes. Most of the time these changes can be made 72 hours before departure
as long as an airline is not involved with the travel. If an airline were
involved we would need 45 days notice to make the change. If your just not
sure, give our office a call.
Fill out the Evaluation Form at the end of your trip.
Please fill out this form at the end of your trip. We do look at
these forms and take your comments to the Employee Activities Committee.
Your constructive comments and suggestions make us better.
When a trip includes
airline flights always be sure to request a seat with your travel partner at the
airport. Most airlines reserve seats in a group block and do
not assign your seat until you check-in on the day of the flight. It is
possible that you and your travel partner will not get a seat together. If
this happens please consult with your tour leader. He/She will try to get
you a seat with your companion if at all possible.
When assigning tickets for events we always try and keep
everyone in your party together. Event tickets are not always
together. Sometimes we receive event tickets from our vendors in pairs.
If you have signed up with three or four in your party it is possible that you
might be split up (for parties of four you would have seats in pairs).
